ARTICLE SUMMARY: Let’s face it, there have been times where we or our clients have looked at our site and thought, this isn’t gonna cut it, we need a redesign. I’m willing to bet this happens mostly to designers and marketers just starting out.

Every designer has to start somewhere, and no matter where you start, it’s always at the bottom, and for good reason. You need knowledge and experience in order to move forward in any career, especially design. The good news is that much of that knowledge will come from people who came before you and are willing to help you grow as a designer.

With the goal of helping up-and-coming designers, “10 tiny UI fixes that make a big difference” by Ryan Almeida shares some of the lessons he has learned along his design journey. He highlights a few of the small details that inexperienced designers might overlook, things like:

  • Making buttons look like buttons
  • Give users feedback when things load
  • Give users visual hierarchy

It’s the experienced eye that picks up the little things that make a big difference in problem-solving. While a new designer or marketer might feel a site needs a complete redesign, a seasoned designer can identify exactly what’s causing that feeling and the small changes that will fix it, saving time and money in the process.

Ryan concludes his article by telling us, “You don’t always need to redesign your entire interface or overhaul your brand. Sometimes the biggest impact comes from tiny, thoughtful details like spacing, alignment, consistency, and clarity.”

This is a great read for all designers, let us know what you think in the comments.
