ARTICLE SUMMARY: As time marches on so does technology. Despite the news of the day life is improving by leaps and bounds, especially for those with disabilities.
As advances in medicine are made man and machine are slowly becoming one and making life better for people who at one time couldn’t even dream of doing things that are now possible for them.
One of those innovations is the Phoenix 99 being developed in an effort to help the blind see. Can anyone say 6 Million Dollar Man?
The project is being carried out by a team of researchers from the University of Sydney and the University of New South Wales and shows great promise for the blind and visually impaired.
Part of the testing included Australian sheep testing with bionic, artificial eyes surgically implanted behind their retinas to see if there were any adverse physical reactions. The Bionic Eye has been well tolerated by the sheep and has led to human testing.
“Bionic eye tech aims to help blind people see” is a great example of Transhumanism and the benefits to man kind as technology and the human condition begins to merge more and more.
