ARTICLE SUMMARY: OK, let’s see a show of hands, how many designers out there have never made a mistake, not many. The good news is making mistakes is what teaches us what to and what not to do in any given situation. I would venture to say the mistakes we make are sometimes better teachers than the ones we have had at school.
“4 COMMON MISTAKES DESIGNERS MAKE” was written by Daniel Piper to help designers recognize and minimize these common mistakes which in the long run will help us save time and money in our design process. The advice includes
- Trying to do too much
- Chasing perfection
- Creating “old fashioned” portfolios
- Not being explicit with your career goals
As designers you probably have additional ideas of what would be considered common mistakes to add to this list, please feel free to add them to the comments section at the bottom of this post.
Mistakes can be costly and any help to avoid them is always welcome and appreciated in the design community. Whether a beginning designer or a seasoned veteran this is a great read.
