ARTICLE SUMMERY: “WHEN CAVEMEN DISCOVERED ART” is where ancient art meets the technology of today.
Thanks to Google’s Arts and Culture we are now able to enter a virtual recreation of the Chalet Cave in southern France.
Users of the Google Arts and Culture app for iOS and Android can now explore the cave and see the horse frescoes in AR via the Pocket Gallery feature.
Since it’s discovery on December 18, 1994 entry to the general public has been limited to prevent the damage that happened to the Lescaux caves, where bacteria and decay have ruined the cave art.
It is the next best way to view the 35,000 year old art rather than being there in the cave itself.
